My Wedding Planning Journey

My wedding planning journey began in 2019—an exciting chapter of my life, yet one filled with unexpected challenges. As an African living in the U.S., I quickly realized that planning a wedding in a country where I wasn’t raised would come with its unique obstacles. From navigating unfamiliar cultural styles to simply not knowing where to find timeless, elegant inspiration, the process at times felt isolating and overwhelming. What began with enthusiastic Pinterest boards and bridal dreams gradually turned into months of frustration. I struggled to find vendors, attire, and ideas that reflected my personal style—something chic, modern, yet still deeply rooted in the classic beauty I envisioned. There were moments I truly wondered if I’d ever find what I was looking for.

One defining moment came just days before the wedding: my much-anticipated reception dress arrived, completely ruined and unwearable. It didn’t fit at all. That experience was painful—a reminder of how hard it can be to plan such a meaningful event in unfamiliar terrain. But my story didn’t end there. This journey wasn’t all struggle—it was also one of growth, discovery, and joy. I learned where to look and who to trust. I discovered amazing vendors and small businesses that deliver quality, sophistication, and cultural understanding.
